Zhuolin Ying, Visiting PhD Student

Ying is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Aircraft Design at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Beijing, China, where he specializes in Aeroelasticity and Control. He received his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) in 2022.
His research focuses on the aeroelastic stability, gust load alleviation, and nonlinear dynamics of high-aspect-ratio and multi-body flexible UAVs. His work combines finite element modeling with advanced control strategies, including model reference adaptive control and deep reinforcement learning, for aeroservoelastic applications.
He has contributed to several research projects at the Unmanned Aircraft Laboratory, addressing aeroelastic analysis of joined-wing, blended-wing-body, and large maneuvering target UAVs.
From September 2025 to September 2026, he is visiting the MUL² group as a visiting Ph.D. student, extending his research on geometrically nonlinear aeroelasticity and advanced structural modeling of flexible aerospace structures.
